Reliance JioFiber was announced in 42nd Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited(RIL). Jio GigaFiber began its testing back in 2016. Now JioFiber will be commercially launched on 5 September nationwide.

Reliance will officially roll out the broadband on 5 September with offers and features which have never been seen in the Indian market before. The launch of JioFiber is set to break the prices and disrupt the market just like Jio did in the telecom industry.

Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani launched the welcome offer of JioFiber and said, “The experience of JioFiber and Jio-Set-Top-Box really comes to life when combined with an LED TV. So, JioFiber customers who opt for our annual plans, which we call Jio-Forever plans, will get an HD or 4K LED TV and a 4K Set-Top-Box absolutely free. We are calling this the JioFiber Welcome Offer.”

JioFiber will offer a combination of services – fixed landline, broadband and television.

JioFiber will offer internet speeds starting from 100 mbps to 1000mbps or 1 gbps. The tariff plans have been priced from Rs. 700 to Rs. 10,000 per month. RIL Chairman, Mukesh Amabani also announced that the calls from the fixed line to any operator in India will be free.

The set-top box offered in JioFiber will offer the widest range of channels in India. Jio has acquired three system operators to expand its base – DEN, Hathway and GTPL. All the connections of television, landline and broadband will be provided through fibre optics cables.

For the first time in India, Jio will also launch a brand new concept of ‘First Day First Show’. Under this program, premium Jio customers will have the facility to watch the new movies on their television as soon as they are released in theatres. However, it will be launched sometime in mid-2020.

Jio is also offering free HD or 4K LED TV for users who will go for annual subscription of JioFiber plans. The annual plan is being termed as Jio Forever Plan. The brand, make, size and with which plans it is being offered has not yet been made clear by Jio.
