Reliance Industries is set to launch Jio GigaFiber which will offer television, broadband and landline combo to the users. The combo service will be available for a price of Rs.600 per month. According to the reports, GigaFiber will also offer the facility to connect at least 40 devices to its smart home network. This might cost up to Rs.1,000 to the customers.
After the huge success of Jio in the telecom industry, Reliance has introduced GigaFiber which is set to bring a revolution in the internet and television industry.
Currently, Jio is testing its GigaFiber in the two cities of Delhi and Mumbai providing 100 MBPS speed for 100 GB data. A one-time cost of Rs.4500 is being charged according to the sources. The landline will be launched with the facility and the benefit of unlimited calling. The service of television will be provided over the internet using Internet Protocol Television.
Jio GigaFiber was launched in August last year. It is optical-based home broadband. It uses a Jio GigaFiber router and Jio GigaTV set-top box. It had been receiving a positive response from customers in 1400 cities in its beta launch.
Through the GigaFiber router, broadband speed of 1 GBPS can be achieved while running the internet on multiple devices. The set-top box will be used for television channels and services.
Reliance Jio has already acquired Den and Hathway networks in a boost to lay down its fibre optics network in the cities. This will also give a boost to the local cable operators operating under the two networks.
Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani launched the welcome offer of JioFiber and said, “The experience of JioFiber and Jio-Set-Top-Box really comes to life when combined with an LED TV. So, JioFiber customers who opt for our annual plans, which we call Jio-Forever plans, will get an HD or 4K LED TV and a 4K Set-Top-Box absolutely free. We are calling this the JioFiber Welcome Offer.”
Ambani launched the plans with prices ranged from Rs.700 per month to Rs.10,000 per month. The JioFiber will offer speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps or 1000 Mbps. According to him, plans have been devised to suit every budget needs and a user only needs to pay according to his needs.
The JioFiber services will be launched from September 5 this year. Under JioFiber, a landline connection is being provided to all users. All voice calls from the landline to any Indian voice operator, whether mobile or fixed will be free. Also, JioFiber will have the facility of Fixed-International calling offering lowest rates to make international calls from the fixed-line. It will include and unlimited calling pack to US and Canada for a price of Rs. 500 per month.
JioFiber is also offering an LED or 4K LED TV to users who opt for the annual plan also known as Jio-Forever plans. However, the price of annual plan has not been released in the public yet.
Most leading OTT applications like Netflix and Hotstar will also be bundled with the JioFiber subscription. Reliance Jio is also planning to bring a new concept of the first-day first show for the newly launched movies somewhere around in mid-2020.
